What is EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques?

Emotional Freedom Techniques for managing emotions

EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique involves tapping with the tips of the fingers on specific points known as acupoints.

The technique originates from a combination of Thought Field Therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles.

In essence, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture, without the use of needles. It works by focusing the mind on an issue of concern or a feeling in the body, and then tapping on certain acupoints at the same time.

When done correctly, EFT balances disturbances in the energy system and brings about relief, sometimes in minutes. Issues that have their origins in early childhood may take longer and may have several "layers" to peel away before lasting relief is obtained. Nevertheless, it is still a much more effective practice than more traditional psychological techniques have been able to achieve.

Below is a quick and simple introduction to Positive Energy for beginners.

How does EFT or tapping help my relationship?

You may be wondering, "what is all this energy healing stuff doing on a marriage counselling site?"

Well, couples in conflict tend to reach a point of anger and frustration at times that they lose connection with one another. Someone who is reacting in anger also loses the ability to behave rationally because their whole energy system has become toxic.

There is a disruption in the flow of energy throughout the body which makes access to the more resourceful self difficult, of not impossible.

So couples who learn how to manage their emotions using EFT have a readily accessible and very potent, even though subtle, way of recovering a peaceful, centred state quickly. This makes days or often weeks of standoff a thing of the past!
